Once there was a mother sparrow who laid her eggs on the shore of a mighty ocean. One day, while she was away in search of food, the mischievous waves swept in and carried her eggs away.
Desperate and heartbroken, the sparrow pleaded with the ocean to return her eggs. But the ocean refused.
Furious and determined, the little sparrow set out to drain the ocean—one drop at a time. With her tiny beak, she carried mouthfuls of water away, over and over again. All the other birds, animals, and even the gentle breeze laughed at her. Some creatures mocked her for attempting the impossible. But she never gave up and persisted all the while thinking of her eggs.
Her unwavering resolve reached the ears of Garuda, the mighty king of birds. Moved by her courage, Garuda flew down and demanded that the ocean return her eggs.
The ocean trembled at his command, and soon, the waves gently rolled the eggs back to shore, safe and intact.
The mama sparrow, grateful and relieved, carried her eggs to safety.
