The Rebel Child

The other day, I sat across from a client as she gently revisited her inner child—not the sweet, wounded one we often picture, but a fiery little rebel. A girl who didn’t want to be tamed or boxed in.

As we peeled back the layers of old stories, she realized something that landed that was unexpected and surprising: That rebellious child wasn’t a problem. She was powerful!

She wasn’t defying for the sake of chaos—she was protecting freedom. She was fighting for the right to create, to explore, to be.

And somewhere along the way, adult life told her that version of herself was “too much.” So she tucked the rebel away and tried to play it safe…

…but safe started looking a lot like stuck.

In that moment of deep self-recognition, she made a decision.
She wasn’t going to shut the rebel out anymore.
She was going to invite her in.

As her fiercest ally.
As her inner compass.
As the voice that reminds her she doesn’t have to conform to be confident.

Because confidence, for her, was never about fitting in.
It was about finally letting herself be all of who she is.

That’s the quiet revolution happening inside so many of us.
And it always begins with a conversation worth having.
